Popular Car Accident States and Cities
Due to their population, the most popular car accident states and cities of the United States are highly vulnerable to car accident statistics.
It's really a numbers game.
Generally speaking, the more cars on the road (particularly in congested areas like major cities), the more car crashes are likely to result.
If you happen to be living or traveling in any of these popular car accident states or cities, make sure you know where to look for car accident assistance in case of unexpected circumstances.
One suggestion that I make for all US drivers is to consider investing in membership in the AAA Auto Insurance Club.
The annual fee is relatively small (less than $100) for all the benefits it provides. You'll really be wishing you were a AAA Club Member if you find yourself in an auto accident or some type of vehicle breakdown. You don't even have to be the driver of the car in question to take advantage of the AAA benefits.
Florida Car Accident StatisticsFlorida, the "Sunshine State," is a densely populated state and is highly susceptible to car accidents. In 2007, the yearly Florida Traffic Crash Statistics Report by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles recorded around 256,200 car crashes in all, which means that around 700 car accidents happen in the state every day.
On top of that, there were 212,149 injuries, which resulted from 135,601 injurious accidents. The largest majority of these accidents were alcohol-related, and a large number were also drug-related.
The report also specified that the majority of the accidents involved drivers aged 15 to 19. Focusing on the alcohol-related crashes, most were found to involve 21-year-old drivers. Most accidents also occurred on Fridays at around 5 PM and on Saturdays at around 7 PM.
Interesting, isn't it? I'd definitely classify Florida as a popular car accident state!
Maryland Car Accident Statistics
Maryland is another popular car accident state. Being a life science hub and a border state, and surrounding Washington, DC, as it does, Maryland gets a lot of traffic. It also happens to be an accident-prone state. According to reports, around 115 people die in Maryland car crashes every day.
This is despite the 90% rate of seat belt use in the state, which is one of the highest seatbelt-use rates in the country. Fortunately, records show that the number of car crashes in Maryland has decreased during the past few years.
Texas Car Accident Statistics
In 2006, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recorded a total of 3,070 fatal accidents on the roads of Texas, making it another popular car accident state. The year 2007 then recorded 3,363 deaths related to Texas car crashes.
This number is already 4.8% less than the number of deaths in 2006. On the bright side, Texas enjoyed one of the country’s lowest car accident-related death rates. But this does not mean that Texas car accidents are not common.
If you have been involved in a Texas car crash, look for a Texas car accident lawyer. Due to the special laws of Texas regarding such accidents, it is better to have a car accident lawyer who knows his way around and is skilled in accident law.
Georgia Car Accident Statistics
Georgia was recorded to have 1,693 fatal car crashes in 2006, which shows just how common car accidents are in this state. Over-speeding and driver error are cited as common causes of automobile crashes in this popular car accident state.
The issue and dangers of teen driving is also a major concern in the state of Georgia. If you encounter car accidents in the area, you can call Georgia-based law firms who can represent you in car accident settlement cases.
New York Car Accident Statistics
New York is highly crowded, which means car accidents also follow closely. Since 1999 and 2000, with car crash fatalities recorded at 1,599 and 1,458 respectively, New York already had high car accident death rates compared to other states in the United States.
Out of the total number of New York accidents, 37.8% involved moving vehicles, while 30% were cases where cars hit stationary objects on the road such as trees, telephone poles, and the like.
New York records show that a lot of New York car accidents are because of drunk driving. These DUI cases have also become rampant in recent times. Aside from that, a large number of the accidents were also SUV rollovers.
Pennsylvania Car Accident Statistics
If you are in Pennsylvania, you can rely on top car accident lawyers for help in case you get into a car accident. Pennsylvania gets a lot of car smashes every year.
Among all Pennsylvania fender benders, 69% involved cars skidding away from the roadway, 20% happened at intersections, and 14% involved trucks. Drivers and passengers are not the only ones in danger. Around 197 pedestrians also died in Pennsylvania due to vehicular accidents. Yep, another popular car accident state!
The VerdictThe popular car accident states and cities in the U.S. are also infamous for the high fatality rates suffered in these particular states.
If you have contributed to the car accident statistics in these states, it is important to seek legal advice from special car accident lawyers in these states so you can recover your losses resulting from the vehicle accident.
